What is a workshop  and what are the subjects?

A workshop is a more in-depth learning experience than a one hour presentation. They last from 2  hours to 8 hours depending on the subject and the cost varies from $25 to $289. You can read more about the offerings below and on the associated web pages.

Underwater Archaeology

To equip our members with the skills and knowledge to better understand shipwreck research, construction, and surveying, MAST coordinates annual workshops.  These workshops feature a series of seminars and a variety of speakers and topics. This workshop is a condensed version of the annual workshops and will give the attendee an insight into this fascinating archaeology involved in the shipwreck world. Carrie Sowden from MAST will be the instructor.

Simple Underwater Videography

Bill Margiotta, founder and operator of the Underwater Connection Inc. a PADI 5-Star IDC SCUBA Center in Columbus, will instruct attendees on techniques to improve their skills in shooting underwater video. The students will then get into the hotel pool to practice what they have learned.  The last hour of the workshop will be back in the classroom where the group will review the pool footage.

Great Lakes Shipwreck Photography

Andy Morrison will instruct attendees on shipwreck photography which is a speciality all of it's own. This workshop is geared toward digital photography.

Photoshop Elements 8: The Basics and Beyond

If you want to produce a CD from your images then the knowledge that can be gleaned from Rich Lauer's course on Photoshop Elements 8: The basics and Beyond will also be extremely useful.  Rich will show you how to make the most from your images. Who knows, you might be the next “award-winning photographer”.

Public Safety Diver Intensive One Day Workshop

An intensive workshop by Andrea Zafares designed to eliminate the pitfalls of insufficient rescue and recovery diving knowledge. The number one cause of public safety diver fatality is the use of recreational procedures or equipment.

Dave Leander of Great Lakes Dive Center will present the VCI – Visual Cylinder Inspector Course and VCIR – Visual Cylinder Inspector Refresher Course at ScubaFest 2010.  The ever-popular ECT - Eddy Current Service Technician course will also be presented.  Minimum class size is six students for each PSI class.

Interspiro Technician Program

The technicians who complete this training program will be certified by Interspiro to perform annual service and field maintenance on their Divator MK II full face masks. This course is designed to give you the tools to repair, maintain, and complete annual service on your department's Interspiro Divator MK II (AGA) full face masks. With this training, your department could not only save on the cost of repairs but also reduce the amount of downtime for your mask. Pete Gannon will be the instructor.

Recomended for anyone involved in repair or maintenance of department gear. Also recommended for those individuals interested in increasing their knowledge of the workings of their equipment.
